We have learned of the sad passing of David Prowse, the man behind Darth Vader's mask.
Prowse passed away after a short illness on Saturday 28-Nov-2020 at the age of 85.
David embodied cinema's greatest villain. It is with great sadness the UK Garrison and the 501st Legion hears he has become one with the Force.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.
Sad day made a little better.
Providing an Imperial escort and guard of honour this morning for a lifelong and dedicated Star Wars fan who sadly lost his life recently at just 55.
It was the brothers hope that the 501st UK Garrison might be able to help make today something more that just a day of sadness for the family and friends, and give his brother the kind of send off he'd be delighted with.
It was our honour and privilege to be able to do this for him and his family.
This is what we do.

September 5th is the International Day of Charity.
The date was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 "for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress".
The UK Garrison and 501st Legion invites you to celebrate the day by making a donation to support an important charity: UNICEF.
UNICEF works hard to save and protect the world's most vulnerable children.
Please consider donating if you can, and share the link below:

This week 501st UK Garrison brothers and sisters, stepped up to do what was asked of them in these sad and rather unforgiving times.
"On Wednesday, it was our sad duty to provide the escort to a fallen paramedic and lifelong Star Wars fan. It was an honour to perform this small act of acknowledgement for your sacrifice. Rest in peace, Sir."
